I have updated the wiki page on the Redmi AX6 to account for the fact that only the initramfs image works for the inital flash (see this post and this post).
How do I change the link in the firmware download table?

you change the hwdata page https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/xiaomi/xiaomi_redmi_ax6, I just did it, hope I got it right.
