[HELP] Not sure what device to pick

I don't have a direct recommendation at hand, as I've been looking at different usage scenarios (higher end, sadly more expensive) for myself in the recent past - and I don't have the slightest clue about the markets in .mx. The only suggestion I could make, would be looking to import (if viable) https://openwrt.org/inbox/toh/askey/rt4230w_rev6 from the US - if you can get them for a bargain (starting around 20 USD a pop/ used).

But we are at the turnover point between 802.11ac and 802.11ax, with the later slowly becoming supported by OpenWrt (and often being cheaper than their 802.11ac predecessors).

Understood! Thank you so much for all your help anyway, it's greatly appreciated.

No WAX202 then?

Still considering that one! I saw that there's this known issue:

No 160 MHz support on 5 GHz.

Don't know how troublesome that may be, so right now I'm researching between the WAX202 and the RT4230W to find which one has better compatibility with OpenWRT.

Thank you for your suggestion, really appreciated.

You do not want overlap between the channels your access points are operating on, and with 160 MHz channels that would be impossible.

You will most likely not need 160 MHz, so don't filter for it. I hit >= 600 Mbps on 80 MHz 802.11ax, with a device similar to the WAX202, FWIW.

I don't have lots of experience with networking / wifi so I'm learning as I go, I checked this https://help.keenetic.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012060379-Available-channels-on-the-5-GHz-Wireless-network and I understand a bit better now how the whole channel thing works, I agree I won't need 160Mhz, also now I think that maybe 4 AP may be somewhat overkill, hahaha.

Still I would use at the very least 3.

Thank you!
