Hardware with mini PCI-e suitable for mSATA disc?

Archer C7 has a mini PCI-e slot:

Here is a photo of the board (from google):

Can it be used for a small mSATA SSD (of course, I will loose WIFI)? I know that all PCI-e ports are not suitable for mSATA. And some SSD cards are suitable for PCI-e.

So I wonder if anyone here tested an mSATA card in the Archer C7?

Kind regards,

Nope, it's PCI-E bus only, no mSATA, so don't even try.

You should be able to use there some mpci-e to SATA bridge (real bridge, with some additional chip, e.g. ASMedia, not just form factor/connector adapter). Something like this may work: http://www.sybausa.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=64_77_81&product_id=124

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish but keep in mind that the SoC itself is pretty slow so I doubt you'll see much of an improvement compared to USB.

Got it thanks.

On that note, the two usb ports actually connect to a hub. Also, SATA is always faster and you will see an improvement on an archer c7. USB also takes a large amount of CPU when writing to the hard drive. It's implemented weird I think.
