Hardware for 802.11k and 802.11v?

I am a bit lost in the Wifi standards... Specific on what hardware is needed to be able run 802.11k and 802.11v (for running DAWN*).

I see a device supports wifi6, 802.11ax (which I assume is mostly because of the hardware support 802.11ax) . When installation OpenWRT are 802.11as device, is the OpenWRT 802.11k and 802.11v implementation pure software? Or are there HW requirements to run 802.11k and 802.11v (next to CPE and memory)?

So are 802.11k and 802.11v purely software implementations on top of Wifi6/802.11ax hardware or am I missing something?
And if it is HW: how do I find devices supporting this?

Walter
note: I found 802.11 k/v/r do we need a specific hardware for these to run in the AP? But from the feedback here I am still puzzeled (like a reference from the statements in the thread)
*if I really need DAWN is another topic ;-).
