Got 25.12.5 installed. Now what?

I've spend a fair amount of today reading Openwrt forum and wiki items and I figured out how to install the latest 25.12.5, but my knowledge base is based on setting up the original GL-iNet AR750S using the factory interface with the last update back in 2025.

Since I had it configured as a wifi repeater I have it working now but don't have a clue as to the other Internet access methods that the router is capable of.

I'm browsing the Luci interface and see all the data, which is impressive, but I don't really know what to do change it from WIFI repeater to tethering, etc.

Can someone point me to the documentation that gets me back on track with the Luci method of doing this

Thanks for the information. I have it currently working where the AR750S has it's WAN port cabled to the LAN port of a T-Mobile Home Internet box for this test. That is working and I'm able to connect to the 2.4G and 5G WiFi in the AR750S.

What I'd like to try next is to configure the AR750S to connect via WiFi to the T-Mobile box. Then have my devices connect via WiFi to the AR750S.

I have many use cases for this like wifi repeating a Hotel WiFi as an example. It' also how I need to work the T-Mobile box as a backup for when my Cable Modem fails.

Not exactly sure if this is called a Repeater or extender.

Travelmate makes the configuration easier. However, once I get it connected to the T-Mobile box I can't get to any internet sites. I'll keep playing with it and maybe ask some more questions.

since I could not seem to get the wifi repeater/tethering to work in openwrt, I reloaded the GL.inet last firmware they have before they EOL'd the AR750S. After a few reboots I got that working with the old GL.inet web page interface and got it tested with ethernet internet connection and wifi repeater connection. I created 2 upstream connections, one to my wifi on my cable internet AP and on to my T-Mobile Home internet box. Both work fine in the test.

I went to the Luci interface page via Advanced and the wireless look about the way I tried to set it up on 25.12.0. So I know the hardware is working.

Could I just upgrade to 25.12.0 using the

openwrt-25.12.0-ath79-nand-glinet_gl-ar750s-nor-nand-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

Leaving the setting the way they were under GL.inet version openwrt-ar750s-4.3.25-0403-1743654681.tar?

Any thoughts?

gl.inet settings will most likely not work in openwrt.
you can try, worst case scenario, you'll need to reset.

Here's what happened. My PC was connected to the AR750s via ethernet to the LAN port of the router. I switched to Luci page and installed:

openwrt-25.12.0-ath79-nand-glinet_gl-ar750s-nor-nand-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

When the router rebooted it pointed me to a newer stable of 25.12.5, so I installed that.

When the router rebooted it used my old settings and connected via WiFi repeater mode to my T-Mobile box. So my PC had internet connection via ethernet to the LAN of the router and the router via WiFi to my T-Mobile box.

I tried a simply change of the SSID and password to point to my Deco AX50 mesh system connected to my Cable modem. Nothing connected even after rebooting the router.

So now I'm connected using WiFi to my AR750S and it's WAN port is connected via ethernet to the T-Mobile box.

I'm going to keep playing around with this using travelmate and see what happens. I need to be able to have the router connect to different WiFi as I travel.

Using Travelmate I was able to get 2 WiFi AP entries. It didn't work at first even with a bunch of save and restarts. I finally had to reboot the router.

Can I assume that I should use Radio 0 (5G) as my uplink repeater to the T-Mobile Wireless Home Internet box since it's faster and only use Radio 1 (2.4G) for my wifi client devices like laptops and tablets?
