they are sold cheap and i like to use them as mesh repeater for 7490. anything i should know before?

I'd start with the fact that these are 802.11n (wifi 4) 2.4GHz only for wireless. They'll be a pretty poor choice for most normal wifi use these days, unless this is purely for very low bandwidth client devices. As a single radio device, they're also not good for mesh/wireless repeater functions (i.e. where there is a wireless backhaul).
So, IMO, to make this worth buying, each unit would need to be very cheap... like less than the cost of a cappuccino/latte (~$5 USD).
DECT is not supported in OpenWrt.

There are no specific instructions about flashing back to the vendor firmware in the device page nor in the git commit.
There is a TFTP server, so it is likely that it will accept the standard factory firmware, but I cannot guarantee this assumption.
However, as stated before, DECT is not supported (and you've specifically said that you don't want to lose that functionality).
It is worth reiterating that this is an old device with only 100Mbps ports and Wifi 4. If you have one laying around, there's no harm in playing with OpenWrt on the device (assuming that you are comfortable with the potential risk of not being able to revert back to the vendor firmware). However, this device is not worth buying for OpenWrt purposes unless it is super cheap, akin to the cost of a coffee.

AVM has a dedicated recovery firmware, which should do the job.
Still, this is not sane device to buy.
