I have another router to test, but it doesn’t have Wi-Fi. To test it, I need to replace the Flint2 with it, while still keeping Wi-Fi available. For that, I want to turn my Flint2 into an access point with all its LAN ports acting as a switch, but I’m not sure how to set it up.
Can the WAN port also be used as a LAN port (port number 1 in the screenshot)?
I don’t think this is possible, so let’s forget about it.
My new router will be connected to the WAN/LAN port in LAN mode (port n°2).
I believe the other LAN ports will work as a switch.
My knowledge of OpenWRT and how to achieve what I want stops here XD.
PS: I’d like to keep the settings in case I need to return the new router.
PPS: Please be kind and clear in your explanation.
Thanks,
But this guide doesn't talk about keeping the old router swtich working for all LAN ports.
How do I achieve this?
And I have guest network, for wireless I suppose.
Does this guide make the old router keeps it's wifi configuration? SSID and password? This is essential too.
I think I'll flash back the GL firmware, the OP24 one...
If I backup my OpenWRT 24.10.4 config with the Generate archive, will I be able to restore all the Flint2 was before reverting to GL's firmware? dhcp, wireguard, OpenVPN, Wifi, etc... settings?
There is no mention to LAN ports acting as a switch...
Let me remember you that I am not very comfortable with all knowledge about OpenWRT.
I as politely a question, requesting help, and kindness, not pointing me out to a doc page a little bit old to not be the same as I get with my router @OpenWRT 24.10.4.
Don’t be condescending, please.
I get it, you are.
I'll be repeating myself, I'm not comfortable with all knowledge about OpenWRT.
And what I understand from your answer is that you are not capable of pedagogy, explaining to me what I need to know to understand the concepts...
So to anwser, yes I read it, and I might have missed something (something you could point me)
I might add that my mother tongue is not English, So, I really might have missed something.
Once again, I did not make myself understood...
I was asking this:
could, with the backup made via OpenWRT, I restore my settings (DHCP, Wireguard, OpenVPN...) and restart as now, if I reinstall OpenWRT after retrying the GL.iNet version of the firmware?
But Yes, I asked them. I kindly received an answer.
Is there any mention of them not acting as a switch?
This is new to me, feel free to report any errors you find.
Keep in mind that page isn't device specific.
Welcome to the club.
Yes, but the packages you installed after flashing openwrt will be missing.
You can fix this using the owut package to generate an image containing the current state of OpenWRT, package wise, and DLing it to your client for later use.
