TL;DW, 5 years is a very long time in IT, you will not want to buy it by then.

Does anybody know if the OpenWRT Devs have this yet? The influencers seem to have it now. Hopefully it will get into the hands of the OpenWRT devs quickly.

Won't be priced in USD because of FCC ban so it won't exist there.

"0 RPM fan" = Active cooling?

Most 11be hardware has either active cooling or a huge heat sink these days.

The problem is that you need to reconcile multiple temperature measurements (mt7988 + mt7996 would be at least 4 sensors) without even bringing the SFP or 10GBase-T ports into it.

Something similar in specs like the BT8 has passive cooling I believe, but the heatsink is quite sizable there.

I have the BT8. No bigger than a large paperback book, completely silent since it lacks a fan, and never even gets warm. Hopefully the fan only runs when SFP is used.

Not flint 4. 6 months to 3 years for availability in USA due to ban. The latter is more realistic so 2029.

From what I can tell the 2.5G ports may be (Motorcomm) YT9224, not RTL8372.

I've got one pre-ordered, my knowledge of openwrt isn't good enough and I keep messing up trying to set up my Asus BT8 pair. I'm hoping the assisted GUI helps me get more usage from the hardware.

It's not an openwrt issue, or a BT8 hardware issue... It's 100% the 47 year old operator! :joy:

I try to use routers with max 1.5 A power supply, can go as far as 2.5 A, but 4 A? It's a showstopper for me.

guess you're stuck with AC wifi, at least for now ?
