Gl.inet Beryl MT-1300 - Unsupported message?

Hey there,

I'm trying to initially flash OpenWRT ( open source) on Gl.inet Beryl MT-1300 and I'm getting a strange error message (see screenshot below). I installed Luci via Advanced and opend the luci webinterface, tried the firmware upgrade. It states that the uploaded OpenWRT image is not supported.

I tried 23.05.0 and 22.03.0, both the same message.

Should I force the flash and everything will be fine? I don't want to brick my router...

Thank you

The new images use a different system for the switch, you have to disable the "Keep settings ..." option.

Thank you, I knew that. Assuming I disable the checkbox, is the flash safe to do or will it potientially brick my router?

It should not brick. You will have to redo some of the network configuration in DSA format. You may want to export your existing configuration to a file so you can read it for reference. Definitely never try to copy config files directly from the GL installation to official OpenWrt.

Thank you. It all worked perfectly fine.

Procedure (you need a working internet connection):

  • Click through the startup wizard
  • Select Main Menu > Advanced
  • Update Package Lists and install Luci
  • Open Luci
  • Select Firmware Upgrade from Menu
  • Install 23.05.0 ( ☐ keep settings, :ballot_box_with_check: force upgrade), ignore the version mismatch and unsupported format as long as gl-mt1300 is reported
  • Reboot

Everything is working as expected. Great little Router so far, next thing I'll try is the micro SD Slot
