GL Inet AX3000 with two 5 ghz radios

I have been using GL inet Beryl AX 3000 as my travel router with Openwrt 23 and it has been working great. However, one major issue is one radio with 2.4 GHz and another with 5 GHz. I want to be able to connect to a 5 GHz or 6 GHz network with an external USB 3.0 adapter and then use wireguard to tunnel with 5 GHz internal antenna in AP mode. I have read about built in support for MT7612U based USB 3.0 adapter. But before I get into hacker mode and build a custom driver, I was curious if anyone has experimented with this kind of setup on Gl Inet hardware. Thanks in advance!

At this point I'd rather look at mt7921au, instead of mt7912u; although this isn't going quite as far as endorsing USB for 24/7 operations).

I'm not sure if this is the problem of MT3000/Mt1300 USB controller, but I own both and it doesn't seem to work with MT7612U well (I can test MT7921AU later)

Have you tried installing the kmod-mt7621u driver and adding the radio? If you can paste dmesg message snippet after plugging in your mt7621au, I'd be curious to see.

Thank you. I got an mt7921au from AliExpress and installed the kmod-mt7921u driver on OpenWRT 22 and the radio is working as expected. It is being detected with all the right functionality.

FYI, that's not proper Openwrt you're running ...
