GL-iNet AX1800 new router - OpenWrt support?

What's the radio power your using? It might be related to that to stay below 23db.

Hi, removed both dnscrypt and mwan3 but still no success.
dnsmasq is not starting...

(I am connecting to my internet AP with one of the radios - sucessfully - and using ethernet to connect to the router).

Help please!

If I adjust to 21db, it will still crash.

Can you DM me you network config bud as it sounds like your using the system as a dummy ap.

Hi... if you reckon it's a networking issue, I think I should be able to muddle through without bothering you! I will give it a go and only ask you if I get totally stuck!
Many thanks...

OK, I am reasonably sure it's a DNS issue...

a) I have setup the AXT1800 with WiFi connected to my internet AP (this client is in the wan zone), and the lan connection to my laptop via ethernet (this is in the lan zone).

b) With the zones set like this, I can route through the AXT1800 and ping (eg) 8.8.8.8 from the laptop. However, I can't access websites via 'friendly names' (such as bbc.co.uk.)

c) But - if I set my laptop interface to have static dns addresses (such as 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) addresses such as bbc.co.uk are now correctly resolved.

d) And I am now using the connection via the router to post this message.

Bottom line - the dns on the router is broken but otherwise it's working.
The error message is the same as before, saying the dns has not started and the router can't be used as dns resolver...

Thoughts please?

Cheers, Bill

It seems that you have installed the plug-in lancache, which may be the cause. Try uninstalling it.

Hi, and thanks.
I have not intentionally installed lancache, but I will try removing it later...

Cheers!

Looking in software, 'lancache' is not installed...
Any other thoughts please?

Cheers!

Can you make a backup of you config and pull the DHCP file from it, it will be inside /etc/config folder. Then zip and send me a DM.

Try this way...
I've attached the dhcp zipped file to this emailll

Cheers, Bill

(Attachment dhcp.zip is missing)

Late to the party here. Is there a latest ax1800 img I can try out?

OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT r16399+157-c67509efd7 / LuCI openwrt-22.03 branch git-21.284.67084-e4d24f0

Kernel Version	4.4.60

So a bit outdated but still big move forward I reckon, I ma on it a month and still no issues.

Gl-iNet does have also kernel 5.4 available too in the infrabuilder git repo.

I have AXT1800 Slate if that would help. Happy to be involved.
Jerji

Just to reiterate - I am very happy to help with testing! Please feel free to PM me (or post here) when you have a new firmware to test...
Cheers!

Right so i am going to do a snapshot build shortly.

GL-AX1800
GL-AXT1800

It will be a basic install with Luci but with everything compiled.
I will then upload it to the mirror as well.

Anyone that was using an experimental build will need to go to the snapshot build if they got the image directly from my personal server.

@jerji @radiomean Check your DM's i have sent you a link for testing.
Its a basic image so has LUCI and OPKG but none of the additional stuff like in the experimental builds.

Just noticed I am missing a few packages in this build will add them later and recompile.

Flashed ok but seem to be quite a few errors...
Get this message on several pages:

RPC call to luci/getFeatures failed with error -32000: Object not found at ClassConstructor.handleCallReply (http://192.168.4.1/luci-static/resources/rpc.js?v=git-22.314.78547-2cbfd64:11:3)

Also wireless does not seem to be working...
Maybe I need to wait as you say 'a few packages are missing...'

Going to spend some time over weekend sorting the big mess I have made on this repo as it's broken as hell right now.
