Getting access to Telenor Internet

Hi,- Im new to openwrt and I am trying to get acess to internet. The issue is that my provider may use a dhcp server internally so to speak. The provider is Telenor .
From connecting my LAN cable from my computer directly to the cable modem ( Internet is provided by domestic 75ohm coax),
I have figured out the following:

IP4.ADDRESS[1]: 46.9.xxx.xxx/24 ( not sure if static )
IP4.GATEWAY: 46.9.133.1
IP4.ROUTE[1]: dst = 46.9.133.0/24, nh = 0.0.0.0, mt = 100
IP4.ROUTE[2]: dst = 0.0.0.0/0, nh = 46.9.133.1, mt = 100
IP4.DNS[1]: 148.122.164.253
IP4.DNS[2]: 148.122.16.253
IP4.DOMAIN[1]: bb.online.no

I havent set up any configuration yet,- but the default ASUS RT-AX1800U's automatic configuration claimed that it was a DHCP issue.

Try this:
Reset your router to defaults and connect the WAN port to the telenor modem

It looks like the modem is in bridge mode so you should get a public IP address on the WAN

++ switch the cable modem off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on, you need to make sure the previous client MAC is not "memorized"

You are talking about using a thin screwdriver to push in the reset button right?

Just switching off the modem for 5 minutes usually is enough

I have tried to leave the router off for 10 minutes,- also used the reset button and now I cant access the web GUI any more. My computer has trouble connecting to the router. There is no issues with either the computers settings or cables,- because my linksys-wrt3200acm connects just fine.

The advice was to turn off the modem for 5 minutes, the advice was not about the router.

If you have reset the router then power down the router, disconnect the WAN cable.
Power up the router, connect your computer to the router with a LAN cable and restart your computer.
The web GUI of the router should be at 192.168.1.1

I have now tried with just the lan cable to the router, it only gives out ipv6 after a long time.
Can't acess the gui.

I will return the router on Monday

Did you try to setup your PC manually to 192.168.1.2 and ping or ssh 192.168.1.1?

nmcli dev show enp4s0
GENERAL.DEVICE: enp4s0
GENERAL.TYPE: ethernet
GENERAL.HWADDR: 04:D9:F5:F9:FB:F6
GENERAL.MTU: 1500
GENERAL.STATE: 100 (tilkoblet)
GENERAL.CONNECTION: enp4s0
GENERAL.CON-PATH: /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/15
WIRED-PROPERTIES.CARRIER: pƄ
IP4.GATEWAY: --
IP6.ADDRESS[1]: fd22:6583:a80b:0:6d9:f5ff:fef9:fbf6/64
IP6.GATEWAY: --
IP6.ROUTE[1]: dst = fd22:6583:a80b::/64, nh = ::, mt = 256

No ipv4 at all.

Hm, i'm not sure if your reset of the router put it back to default configuration.
Had you ever changed the address of the router or should it still be on 192.168.1.1?

I don't know what the reset button does, maybe it returns the router back to its original firmware? I haven't changed the adress.

No, it doesn't.

So it should still be on 192.168.1.1.

Did you try to give your PC manually an IPv4 address (like 192.168.1.2) and then connect to the router?

I will try that.

You can try "Return to OEM software" procedure as described in the wiki

https://openwrt.org/toh/asus/rt-ax53u#back_to_asus_firmware_with_asus_repair_tool

and then re-install OpenWrt.

IP4.ADDRESS[1]: 192.168.1.2/30
IP4.GATEWAY: 192.168.1.0
IP4.ROUTE[1]: dst = 0.0.0.0/0, nh = 192.168.1.0, mt = 20100
IP4.ROUTE[2]: dst = 192.168.1.0/30, nh = 0.0.0.0, mt = 100

I'm not sure if I use the correct gateway.

You don't need the gateway at all in this case, however the right setting will be IP of the router.
Set /24 netmask, though that is not critical in this particular setup.

I don't know whats going on,- but I cant even connect with a static IP any longer.
I will return the router,- and I have ordered a Asus TUF AX4200 that i will pick up next week.

Try OEM recovery first.

That software is Windows only, and apparently doesn't work properly under Wine. Wine is a emulator.
So return it is.
