Function that help to find bether wifi signal

Hello Dear,

Is it possible to incorporate a feature in the Luci interface, specifically on the wireless page, or through an additional software package that enables a beep function based on wireless signal strength or SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio)? This could greatly assist in aligning a WiFi antenna in client or bridge mode, for instance.

I believe I've observed such a feature on devices like the Bullet Ubiquiti. If anyone is willing to invest the time and effort into developing this, it would be greatly appreciated.

The proposed functionality involves a simple routine that considers each SNR value. The highest SNR would trigger continuous beeping. With each new SNR, we would compare it to the current maximum SNR, replacing it if the new value is higher. The time interval between intermittent beeps would depend on the difference between the maximum SNR and the currently measured SNR.

Thank you in advance.

I have never owned a router that has a built in speaker, You might be able to create a script using SSH to make the client beep by sending a error if the client has the beep on errors enabled.
Probably easier to use something like one of these on the client:

Openwrt has a channel analysis page that may help if you using it as the client
status >> channel_analysis

The existing Wireless Scan feature doesn't work?

The simplest solution for a non-critical infrastructure such as a SOHO deployment, would be

  1. Aquire an Android device
  2. Install WiFi Analyzer
  3. Change to the audible signal meter.
