FTP server guide help

Hi, got a 1043nd v4, i want to make a ftp server on it, i plan to put an usb memory stick on the router usb port, could someone please provide me with the exact steps on how to do it?

I want it to be secure, to upload/download files from it, must be accessible from both wan and lan ports, connection should be encrypted/secured and want to have multiple users with read only and both read and write, must not allow public read or write from anon users.

And if possible some more tips on how to lock-secure it more, like block brute force on accounts, firewall rules, etc.

Thanks in advance.

FTP is considered very insecure, and runs unencrypted.

Ftp is not secure.

Is this for your own access (including close friends/family), or is it for “open to the world” access?

You can use a VPN like wireguard to allow a connection to the router. From there, maybe a samba share would be the easiest.

Just dont do it, get a new router….

8MB flash - you can not install anything, 64MB RAM - you can not run anything….

You need a VPN server ouch, that CPU is slow in that too….
