FritzBox 7520 xDSL modem

you copied the dsl firmware files after reflash? you can also check dsl attempt to connect from logread and/or /etc/init.d/dsl_control and/or restart the service..

other than this for what i can tell it should work..

I did it, like the tutorial.

root@OpenWrt:/etc/init.d# cd /lib/firmware/
root@OpenWrt:/lib/firmware# ls -l
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 232 Aug 22 17:55 09a9
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 336 Aug 22 17:52 ath10k
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 64880 Aug 22 17:55 ppe_fw.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5424 Jul 15 22:14 regulatory.db
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            22 Aug 22 17:56 vdsl.bin -> xcpe_8D1507_8D0901.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1005436 Aug 22 17:55 xcpe_8D1507_8D0901.bin
root@OpenWrt:/lib/firmware#
root@OpenWrt:/lib/firmware# cd 09a9/
root@OpenWrt:/lib/firmware/09a9# ls -l
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2720 Aug 22 17:55 aca_fw.bin
root@OpenWrt:/lib/firmware/09a9#

Is there anything missing?

not that i can tell, try to restart dsl_control service and check logread for info. also luci should report some info.

Not working ... and no error messages on logread. Please tell me ... When the DSL modem works correctly, than the DSL/Power led have to blink when the modem is trying to sync the line? Coz, I cant switch my routers on my DSL line, so often. The Line will be downgraded from my ISP. The think, my line is unstable.

This doesn't look like the issue which was already mentioned by others (and can be fixed using the "magic" patch).

Does the modem work with original firmware? Have you made sure that your device is not "Typ B"? Because the Realtek modem on that one is not supported.

("Typ B" is only written in small letters on the label. But it is also easy to distinguish the models by the different case: Pictures of 7520 Typ B, Pictures of regular 7520)

Yes, its Typ B :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: I saw it on the back side ... Also Typ B is unusable with openWRT and the DSL modem.
Is it possible that the Realtek modem will be supported?

There are no open drivers for the Realtek modem. Now, since this device actually has an entire separate SoC for the modem, it might be possible to re-use the existing firmware image for it. However, even that would require at the very least to re-implement Realtek's NFBI protocol which appears to be used to load the firmware onto the Realtek SoC. Someone would need to start working on that to figure out if it is possible.

I allways have bad luck with my ISP. Every time when I get new Hardware from my provider, the FritzBoxes not comaptible with openWRT. One year ago I got a FritzBox 7530. There are two versions, too. And I got the one of them, that is not supported by openWRT.
Bad luck ...

You can easily get one on the used market - my 7520 was less than €50,-. You don't depend on the ISP and you know what to expect.

Yes, I know ... I have 3 FritzBoxes 7362SL with openWRT. The FritzBox 7520 was for free from my ISP. Installing openWRT on it, was a test.

But how I get reported when Realtek modem is supported?

There is no magic selective notification (unless you want to monitor all commits), but it's not very likely that realtek xdsl modems will ever be supported (at all) either.

I thought only the firmware of the modem was the problem?

Did you read the last ~half dozen of posts, because that's not (at all) my reading of the situation?

Fact, there is no support for realtek xDSL modems, at all, nothing, nada.
There might (subjunctive) be a way to come up with an approach similar to the WASP approach for the wireless on the 3490/ 7490, but that's not here now, there's no one working on in yet - and it's totally unclear if that would succeed.
