Just on the look for some general advice B7520v2 because it seems it lacks a bit documentary in comparison.
Just hit me with everything that would help.
Is your post Openwrt related ?
aye of course
What specific questions do you have? Have you already installed OpenWrt, or are you looking for guidance about how to do that? Or something else?
yea general guidance because i really dont wanna build a firmware myself and the whole handlin the 7520 like 7530 isnt really a thing with the v2 ?
There's information about the 7520 here, but no mention of a v2. So the first thing to do is to determine what v2 means in this context. Is it the same as the 'Typ B' which is mentioned but not supported yet. Or is it the same as the v1 with some minor changes (and if so, what are those changes) or is it an entirely different design?
You might get started by opening it up to see what chips are in there:
https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-developer/add.new.device
I guess we're talking about
https://boxmatrix.info/wiki/FRITZ!Box_7520
vs
https://boxmatrix.info/wiki/FRITZ!Box_7520_v2
while that information is very lacking, it does suggest that at least the VDSL modem will not be supportable on OpenWrt (RTL8685/ RTL8275 instead of lantiq). And you will have to do an almost complete new device bring-up.
I posted the specs above before, but since they can even vary in the same model.Im a bit clueless how start , if anyone would look through the firmwares and could tell me if their are even some that could work.
Just skimming the link you shared, I think there is still a reasonable amount of information that still needs to be gathered in terms of the specific chips. In the link I shared earlier, you'll see the process of detailed discovery of each of the key chips. Then, the next part is to find the serial UART port, connect to it, and start collecting the boot-log information.
Well, the question is if that really matters:
- VDSL modem: unsupported
- FXS ports/ slic: unsupported
- DECT: unsupported
what's left?
- ipq4019
- 128/256
- 4*1000BASE-T ports
- qca4019 wireless
Might this still be something OpenWrt could reasonably run on, yes (and if you want to do the development for that, you will have to document the h/w details first) - but you still lose a major selling point compared to the 7520v1, the supported/ integrated super-vectoring capable VDSL2 modem. If you don't need that and want to go forward, cool, but anything phone or xDSL related will never work - and any other cheap ipq40xx/ ipq806x device would be a better option.
I think i got the point and i mean yea buying this shit for the purpose to do something withit would be crazy.
But for me it has no use atm even as repeater it would be more use (I never understood why Fritz took repeating function even out of some HS i think). Yea and fucking vectoring was outdated 20 year ago now your wanna wait for it , i will think about it , maybe if sombeody pops n here and did for some reason alrdy and would save me the time it would be a nobrainer.
The hardware is very similar to the regular 7530/7520, except for the modem. So it should just work with the existing OpenWrt image for Fritzbox 7520/7530. Only the modem won't work because of the missing driver.
Someone unintentionally tried it before: FritzBox 7520 xDSL modem
