Hello. I have a Flint 2 with Original GL.Inet firmware that acts as main router for the fiber 2500/1000 that I have at home. Inside the apartment I can’t wire cables, the home is too old.
To connect the pc, that is 4 meters from the router in distance, I thought about buying another Flint 2 and either using the WDS functionality with the original firmware or OpenWRT, connect it via wifi to the main flint and then connect the pc to the second flint via ethernet.
I investigated online and also had long discussion with ChatGPT, but it seems that, despite the flint supporting MIMO 4x4 at 160 MHz on the 5GHz, instead of having a maximum potential wifi connection of 4804/4804, I would be limited to MIMO 2x2, with a max potential of 2402/2402.
Is this correct?
Currently I have a Zyxel NWA50Pro (that is 2x2) with OpenWRT 24.10.4 that is connected to the main flint in wifi and I can see as wifi rate 1900/1400. I hence guess that with a 4x4 I should be able to have full internet bandwith available, in case it’s feasible to have the MIMO 4x4 available.
Someone has tried or can provide more information? As per what I read is a driver issue, but I would like to have more clarity before buing the second flint 2.
Thank you
