Cudy WR3000 v1 (but question is general and should apply to any hardware)
I am considering upgrading from OpenWrt 24.10.4 to OpenWrt 24.10.5. I was about to do this by downloading the "Sysupgrade image" from https://openwrt.org/toh/views/toh_fwdownload and then uploading it in LuCI. System -> Backup/ Flash Firmware -> press "Flash Image..."
I am fine with inputting all of my settings again manually. I also didn't modify the system packages after installing OpenWrt 24.10.4.
But, then I came across this

Incremental updates are discouraged, and often will screw up your system irretrievably, and packages routinely change their config formats with no warning and no backwards compatibility or consideration for upgrades. It's a mess. I only do upgrades on major releases because it's such a PITA.
--When linuxturtle says "incremental updates," I assume that he/she is talking about when the Openwrt version changes from x.y.z to x.y.(z+1).
and this..
click on the "System" tab and then select the "Software & System" option from the dropdown menu. This will take you to a page where you can check for available updates.
--I get the sense that this article is talking about upgrading the packages, not the firmware itself. So, disregard?
Can anyone add some clarity?
