Imagine situation - AP Openwrt based with non Openwrt MESH system, eg. Deco M4. I'm going to set it today afternoon and I might be in the situation where I would need to combine those two. In case that TPLink do not offer to find out or set / change "mobility domain", is there any other way how to check out what is set-up ? I would like to have fast roaming working... I don't have those TPLink devices handy right now, maybe it's available in the system itself but I doubt based on my experience. Any thoughts on that ?
Please note I'm not looking for advices "turn off Wifi on Openwrt based AP"
Thank you.
You could packetsniff the association response. That should contain the MDID when attempting to Fast Roam…
FT doesn't work with mesh though.
What do you want to say exactly? I have two APs with mesh (802.11s) and the fast roaming (802.11r) works perfectly.
Does the 802.11r works even for Openwrt systems, despite of possibly different mobility domain? I guess you need to set same mobility domain, SSID, password and encryption...all is fine but mobility domain not. Also I found out that naturally such level of details is not provided by Deco M4 original SW... that's why I love so much Openwrt...
Yes, I see FT logs without problem when the phone roams. And the phone roams without loosing connectivity, of course.

Did you have to do anything different with configs than normal AP's?
No, the standard configuration work.
Can you test using WifiMan (Android) and mode Status - Signal mapper - Latency and roam ? If you did it already and you see no red line, kudos and congrats
Yes, I tested several times with wifiman and I can confirm that roaming works.
