Why would Openwrt want one ?
There is likely little value for a Facebook page. Sure, maybe it could be used for announcements and the like, but it also means yet one more property that needs to be maintained. It certainly does not work well for community based troubleshooting and assistance the way a proper forum does.
If the devs feel there is something special and useful about using facebook, I’m sure they will share their thoughts. But as an admin of the forum, I don’t see the draw or usefulness.
User groups can gather in any forum they like.

I can't quote ppl, no quote button.
To sponsor OpenWRT, I didn't know about OpenWRT.
I been a dd-wrt user since wrt54gs, found out it's closed source. Then decided look up open source wrt, and found OpenWRT.
FB is the world of internet to show ppl your business's, get known.
It would be cool for official fb page of OpenWRT.
Just one tiny remark, Openwrt is not a a business.
It's not a business. OpenWrt a (free) open source firmware project. It's pretty well known and generally easily discoverable by those interested in advanced networking or how to 'unleash' the power of their router.
I know that. It was an expression/example. To get get ppl that are not educated about OpenWRT.
Nobody in their right mind will try to educate people on FB, of all places.
Their are a lot of closed minds out there. The point of OP is get OpenWRT recognized more. Ppl see OpenWRT, be like what is that, read about it amd get interested. I love it, if I had not known about open source and seeked open source wrt. I would not have this badass flint2 n rc7 OpenWRT. The point is, get openwrt known. If they don't know it exists, how will they learn? I'm littlr smart that have seeked it.
There appear to already be some FB groups about OpenWrt... so in terms of generating awareness, theoretically those groups should already be doing that. Don't forget, that FB isn't really about generalized discovery... it's based on an algorithm that is supposed to feed you more of what you already know about. Ads, to some degree, might be a bit different in that they'll just spray-and-pray on that platform, but OpenWrt isn't a business and isn't going to purchase ads. With that in mind, unless someone has specifically already started searching for/shown interest in advanced networking, they're not going to be 'fed' OpenWrt related FB pages/groups. And since a few such groups already exist, I don't think there's much that an official OpenWrt FB page can add in terms of visibility.
