Any recommendation, or anti-recommendations?
Also, is it possible to install OpenWrt on it? Couldn't find anything on the support list.

Thank you.
Can you please tell me why Broadcom chipset aren't compatible? And what brand are compatible?
My understanding (someone else jump in please) is that historically, Broadcom have had fully closed source drivers and aren't that interested in mainlining them.
As a result, the device becomes "uninteresting" to developers (because the full device capability will never be realised) and so they don't bother with them. So you don't even end up with a wired only type support, because it isn't worth anyone's time or effort.
Qualcomm and MediaTek seem to be the most promising chipsets lately. They're at least partially opening their drivers, and for ath10k an external company signed on to NDA and developed an out of tree alternative too.
