Ethernet downshift after upgrading to 25.12

Hi,

I upgraded a TP-Link EAP245 v1 from 24.10 to 25.12 and I am now observing

kern.warn: [...] Qualcomm Atheros AR8031/AR8033 mdio.0:04: Downshift occurred from negotiated speed 1Gbps to actual speed 100Mbps, check cabling!

Could this be firmware-related? Maybe coincidence, and a physical issue (cable or wall outlet)

Not saying that it's impossible, but it's unlikely to be firmware-related. That said, I don't have an EAP245v1, so I can't tell for sure. Try reseating or replacing the cable first. If the issue persists, try going back to 24.10 and see if the link speed can stay at 1Gbps.

Ok, it was the cable indeed. Very weird because it’s rated CAT6 and isn’t damaged at all, but still a quick, easy and cheap fix. I am glad it’s not anything related to connections on the patch panel, the actual cable in the wall or the the wall outlet.
