Eth0: received packet spanning multiple descriptors

Linksys Viper (E4200v2 / EA4500) OpenWrt 18.06.4 r7808-ef686b7292 / LuCI openwrt-18.06 branch

just made this my primary router as netgear6400 was unstable,

works just fine but there are a lot of errors in syslog regarding multiple descriptors.

other web search suggested MTU may be incorrectly set, but both LAN and WAN are default 1500.

Any ideas as this is swamping the log and i need to be able to check if this router is stable.

Are you sure you can set MTU to 1500 on the WAN? For example, a typical PPTP connection can only do 1492.

running DHCP Client on WAN interface.

when looking at LuCi WAN Advanced, Override MTU is greyed out, showing 1500, which I assume is default.

eth1 is the WAN interface it appears, matching the MAC address.

Does this indicate the problem is with a LAN client ?

(thanks for responses. as u may guess, i know only enough to be dangerous to myself...)

So, there is two of us around here...

If it's happening on the LAN interface, and the messages at quite frequent, I would try to plug the devices one by one, and see if one of them is responsible for those messages.

found one PC that had Jumbo Packets enabled on its adapter. turned this off and messages appear to have stopped. maybe i turned it on for testing on local LAN but new router objects.
so issues appears resolved thanks.
