I do have problems with some ESP8266 devices on esphome. Often it takes a long time until they connect to wifi. My router is BPI-R3-mini and Cudy WR3000, with MT7986 and MT7981.
I think it’s about wifi configuration, what wifi settings I could try to force speed of connecting process? I’m not having a lot of experience with that stuff.
Make a separate AP which shows only WPA2+AES and only in 2.4GHz band. Depending on ESP firmware it may overreact to too many options in network beacon eg PMF forced works PMF optional not.
Thanks a lot for this information. I was allready in the right direction, but didn’t touch PMF yet. Do you mean a dedicated hardware AP or only a IoT Network on the same router? (last I had allready before)
I will have a try. The thing is, the weaker the ESP-MPU and the newer the firmware, the more problematic is the time of connection.
Just tested PMF (required). It is contraproductiv in my case. But WPA2 only makes it a little bit better.
