Error when boot up OpenWrt in MT7688 module

Hi,
I'm having a problem relating to module MT7688H. When the module boot up, I show warning
jffs2: warning: (1) jffs2_get_inode_nodes:Eep. No valid nodes for ino #234

And then, it show in console: root@(none) and cannot connect to internet or wifi.
Could you suggest me how to fix it?

Reinstall OpenWrt.

Reinitialising the overlay should be sufficient, just run jffs2_reset or firstboot.

Yes. Although the JFFS2 messages point to an overlay (writable storage) issue, so that isn't probably your real issue. You should share dmesg output, hopefully that has some pointers.

Note WiFi is never preconfigured on official OpenWrt images.

Like I said, reinstalling OpenWrt should work. While at it, I'd recommend installing the latest stable version, instead of that 7 years old one you have now! See https://openwrt.org/toh/seeed/linkit7688

Doesn't say the exact version, but what you have installed was compiled in 2015, so that's very old.

I'm curious why you think it would. The JFFS2 errors are overlay errors. OpenWrt can function without a working overlay (just SquashFS), you just won't be able any settings. So how would reinstalling fix the networking issues?

Because running firstboot apparently didn't fix the overlay, which it should have, if the issue was solely with the overlay?

Edit: I took a second look and OP didn't unmount the overlay first, so perhaps it didn't get reformatted and firstboot only attempted to delete files in it, in which case umounting it and running firstboot would've possibly worked.

That said, OP already said they tossed the module with the issue and switched to another one, so I don't see the point in continuing the discussion, unless OP decides to come back to it.

Sure, but so would jfss2_reset or firstboot, to my knowledge... And with less hassle.

As for your networking problem, you haven't shared any ip output like I asked earlier, nor explained what you tried to configure any network interfaces and what errors you saw?
