Enterprise Key for WiFi - whats the easy way?

I want to be able to use a public key approach to password authentication on the OpenWRT router but the links I have found explain that an enterprise server is needed. Is it possible to simply create a key as it would be for secure SSH and then copy it via SCP or could I create a daemon server within the router that serves to itself? (If that is possible?)

I suppose you want 802.1x . Have a look here:

Please note that RADIUS does require some resources
