EDUP RT2980 OPENWRT version

If you're using the 112M version, make sure to select the matching MTD partition layout.

Thanks,
This solved the problem

Thank you for your effort
I have one on the way :+1:

I'm a newbie with OWRT, have never requested a "Build"

Regarding the "Request build" :
I can see you have specified kmod-phy-aquantia ... Do we need to do the same ?

TIA
Bingo

Ps: If you have a "secret 10Gb trick" tell more :innocent:

I appreciate your humor.

You don't need to add anything - after pressing "Customize installed packages," LuCI will be added automatically, which is all we need to get the web UI.

Long story short about kmod-phy-aquantia: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/19488

I got my 2980 today, but i'm not 100% sure what model it is (64M vs 112M) , i think it has the old OpenWRT installed ...

Btw:
Is he hardware for the 64M & 112M the same, so it's just the flash partitioning that's different ?

Is this any help ?

kern.info kernel: [ 0.562747] spi-nand spi0.0: 128 MiB, block size: 128 KiB, page size: 2048, OOB size: 64

I saved the syslog & kern-log of the "Original FW" when booted ....
I just have no idea how2 attach , or if they're of any help.

Your install guide mentions this for SSH & 64M
Connect via SSH using dg:ivanlee credentials.
Is the above dg = uid & the other passwd ?

Well i got impatient , and tried the 64M staged upgrade from the git ...
Would'nt boot ....

I tried the Power-on w Reset held in (Uboot gui) ... That seemed to work , i could set my pc to static 192.168.1.10 , and http to the router firmware recovery page.

It mentioned that it was set for 112M flash layout ???
So i requested a 112M custom build (EDUP 2980 112M)

Uploaded that , and all seemed to go ok ....
After power-on i pressed Reset until the led blinked red ....

Now i can login via WEB (Luci)

I suppose this means that i got a 112M version from "Ali" ... ??

Do you have any hint for a "Beginner" how to see if one has gotten a 64M or 112M ?
Either via WEB login or SSH - ssh was open w root@192.168.1.1 , no pwd

And thank you for your great work :+1:

yes

yes

yes

yes

Wasn't there an unsupported device warning when you tried flashing?

There was a warning when i tried to do the sysupgrade -n staged_openwrt_upgrade.bin via ssh ...
Something with the MTD flash.
So i canceled that one.

I thought i missed something in the ssh upgrade , and the doc said i could also use the Web Gui upgrade.

So i selected the WEB Gui upgrade instead , and there was no warning
But i totally lost the router. After waiting 5+ minutes i did a power reset.

I saw the little red/green PCB leds via the "holes", and they were blinking briefly after a reset. But nothing more.

I almost began to warm up the "soldering iron" for uart connection , when i saw the note about the 112M having a newer uBoot that could do web recovery if pressing MESH during powerup.
And thought what the ... I have nothing to loose, and tried.
Luckily i had the sense to set my PC IF manually to 192.168.1.10, as i didn't expect uBoot to serve DHCP (Might be a nice hint for a beginner).

And voila ...A nice web recovery appeared, and it suggested the existing MTD was set for 112M. So i went to the OWRT Firmware selector page, selected the EDUP 2980 112M , and requested a custom build (as you mentioned in the previous post). Downloaded that , and pointed at that fw in the uBoot webrecovery.

After a few minutes i had a nice OpenWRT "Snapshot release" w. Luci webgui login ... (Thank you)

The factory firmware it came with had a working ssh login : root@192.168.1.1 - no pass needed.
Maybe that working "root" ssh login was a giveaway that it wasn't the 64M version.

Ps: I wasn't super worried when i lost it.
1:
It was just $42

2:
I have soldering equipment & pins for the uart connection.
And several usb-ttl adapters in 1v8,3v3 and 5v.
My biggest concern was how to get the "top" off the router wo. breaking some plastic-snap "thingies"

The 2980 is quite power efficient , compared to my Cisco AP's (17+ W)

@andros-ua
I'm wondering why all my interfaces uses the same MAC ??
Well the 5G radio has +1 added to the last digit.

I would have expected that at least WAN had a different MAC, compared to the bridge et all.

I did not see that screen , where i had to force the upgrade.
I saw the "green one" ... I promise ...

I was using this fw: staged_openwrt_upgrade.bin

I remember because i reckognized the last 5 digits in the sha256sum shown in the webgui (..40914) , and they were the same as the ones in the sha256sum file from your github.

Maybe my mistake was using the "staged sysupgrade fw" from your git, and not the sysupgrade from https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/

Tadaaaaaa! TTL arrived.

I have:
this situation I have pasted 2 times log.

So I think i need some help to rebuild the layout. or reupload the image?

I can do also Xmodem or Ymodem or Kermit i use tera term that can do this like i do with fonera a long time ago.
But which of the firmware is correct??

Upgrade Notice: If you saved settings during upgrade, verify that your WAN interface is assigned to the correct WAN device (not eth1) under Network → Interfaces.

Hi guys,

Just wondering what the status is on this device. Is it fully operational with this latest firmware?

I’m planning on getting one or two of these:

Maybe this one - looks exactly the same but €10 cheaper:

I happened to buy both versions of the EDUP 2980 – the 112M and the 64M. I successfully installed the correct version clt-r30b1-v24.10.3 on both, and both routers have been running smoothly for two months to my satisfaction. One shows the model as CreatLentem CLT-R30B1 (112M), while the other only shows CreatLentem CLT-R30B1.

My question is: if I decide to upgrade in the future, will I need to choose a different file for the 112M and 64M versions again?

Absolutely

Hello! Very interesting, why are official versions (24.10.3 or 24.10.4) still not selectable, only snapshots, in https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/

Thanks to Andros for big job.

Because the PR was merged after 24.10 was forked.

Heads up! The last stable release contains a broken platform.sh file that affects future upgrades and settings import. Don't wait—fix it now!

In SSH console:

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openwrt/openwrt/refs/head
s/main/target/linux/mediatek/filogic/base-files/lib/upgrade/platform.sh -O /lib/
upgrade/platform.sh
