EdgeRouter X-SFP - GPIO/PoE Setup Help

I have gotten OpenWRT 23.05.3 running on my device, and cannot install the packages listed on the wiki page to get the PoE working. It seems that the kmod packages haven't been updated for current version? Should I downgrade to v19 or is there another set of packages I should be looking at to handle this.

Check dmesg for gpio offsets, usually it is pre-built into kernel.

Keep in mind the following:

  • You must be using a power adapter that can supply enough power for PoE. That means one of these two options:
    • 24VDC @ 0.5A (or higher amperage) DC barrel plug type adapter (the supplied adapter is 12V @ 0.5A which is not sufficient for PoE).
    • 24V passive PoE input (@ 0.5A or higher) on port eth0.
  • The output will be 24V passive PoE. It is not 802.3af/at/bt compatible and will not power devices that require those standards.
  • If a device that is not designed for PoE is connected to the PoE out port (on eth4) while PoE is enabled, it may cause damage to the connected device.
