EAP111 openwrt installation

Hi Guys,

Does anyone already tried installing the openwrt on EAP111? I would like to know how I can achieve it due to it does not have its own console port. but I see 4 pins and I think its for serial. Can anyone help me with this?

Thank You

Anything wrong with official install method?

Hi Brada4,

I did not see that official installation method, I'm sorry about that, but regarding that it says it can be installed via SSH. meaning its possible to change the default OS of the EAP111 to openwrt? I need to use the firmware file rather than the upgrade file right?

I just wanted to be sure with this due to I have already bricked one of my eap102 due to wrong process of installation of openwrt

Thank You

Focus on reading commit message, every word to the end of it, it answers all your questions.

Usually ppl brick their devices with unofficial"better" install procedures

I tried doing the sysupgrade with the downloaded file from https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/?version=24.10.0&target=mediatek%2Ffilogic&id=edgecore_eap111 which is the sysupgrade file but seems its not working due to after the upgrade the OS still did not change to the openwrt default. I think im doing something no right. sorry im still a newbie on this part.

Verify checksum before flashing if the download and upload is same.

seems the same with

Needs somebody smarter, maybe factory is the real one. but dont take this as an advice.

I also tried using the factory file. using sysupgrade -n -F /tmp/openwrt-mediatek-filogic-edgecore_eap111-squashfs-factory.bin still went back to edgecore openwifi after the upgrade.

Hoping for anyone's help here, its highly appreciated

Hi,

I will now close this topic. it seems i'm now able to install openwrt on EAP111. doing the upgrade firmware via Console/Serial. gui is not working and keeps on reloading the default OS.

Thank You

I guess you didn't review the instructions. Glad you got it working nonetheless via console (i.e. per the instructions).
