Does anyone know if the package was simply abandoned by the maintainer, or superseded by a different/better package? Obviously the abandoned package is old, but before I resurrect it from the dead, was there a reason for it to be dropped?

Thank you!
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't chasing a package that was removed because it had been replaced by something else.
