Hello, I just joined OpenWrt forums.
I found out that my router (E-Lins H685) runs OpenWrt. Now I tried to contact the sales at E-Lins to get the device firmware but they said that its too old. Quick searching led me to their YouTube page which shows they use OpenWRT on a 5G model. (Probably same on the 3G model.) All i found was one mention of this device on the old OpenWrt forums. The device is NOT listed in the officially supported Table of Hardware.
Is there anyone who has custom either unoffical / official firmware for this device??
I'd be thankful.
There are zero E-Lins devices supported by the official OpenWrt project. You will need to ask the vendor or other sites on the internet for help with firmware for that device.
Alternatively, if you want to investigate the potential for OpenWrt support, you can start here:
Provided the forum link above, someone probably made it and got it to work If so, I dont really wanna spend much time on configuring the firmware myself.
Highly doubtful. If someone had put in the effort, it is likely that they would have put in PRs to get that code added to the official project so others could benefit.
If you want OpenWrt on that device, the first things that you need to do are to follow the guide and do some discovery on the actual chips used (CPU, ethernet, wifi, cellular), the flash storage and RAM. Then, assuming that it would be generally compatible, it'll probably be mostly your responsibility to develop the appropriate code to get it running, and you'd have to do the testing. That's because you're the one with the hardware in-hand.
Thanks for your reply! I appreciate it. I will have a look.
i will try some chinese sites to find the firmware if possible first.
8mb flash will be fairly limited and desuported in near future release
