I updated openwrt on my router (WDR3600 V1.5) from 17.01.4 to the latest version without keeping the settings.I set up PPPoE wan and when I try to download a file from the browser it hangs and then fails every time .I am using ethernet for the connection to my windows pc .
Any help will be appreciated
What does "when I try to download a file from the browser" exactly means?
Did you enable the MSS clamping setting in the firewall overview page? If not, try enabling it for the WAN zone.
i have mss clamping enabled on my wan zone
I mean that although wan seems to work when I try to download a file at some point it hangs and then fails .I dont know how to troubleshoot this problem .

Your internet connection (or more specifically, the PPPoE connection) is going down and back up again... Let's start by disabling LCP on the WAN connection setup page, and see what happens.
in the setup page there are two options
LCP echo failure threshold is set to 0
LCP echo interval is set to 5
but i found this https://github.com/openwrt/luci/issues/2112
and I removed from etc/ppp/options the lines
lcp-echo-failure 5
lcp-echo-interval 1
and then I added in the /etc/config/network the line
option keepalive
in the wan section

Yes, please try that. Or you could increase the parameters, 5 / 5 seem more adequate.
