I have this device. I will install openwrt, but when I checked the old topics, I saw that the wifi was not working. Is wifi working in current versions? Does anyone have any information?
Broadcom usually means crippled wifi.
I know it won't work properly. If it works, it's enough for me. I don't want to deal with disassembling the device if it doesn't work.
I'd assume https://openwrt.org/meta/infobox/broadcom_wifi is valid here.
i tried. not working..
Oh, I just get a r8000p last weekend. And I found it's 5g of 38-44 hz that ssid not work. Just can't find a 5g-2 ssid
That info applies to old broadcom wifi chips. Nowadays broadcom works the same way as qca, where at boot time wireless firmware is pushed to the radio.
@John-zhan, the 2 5G radios cannot work at the same frequency range, depening on the firmware, one can either use 1x5G with all wifi channels, or 2x 5G where one radio covers the lower channel range and the other the upper range.
I don't have a 8000P so I don't know what was ported to openwrt.
Were you able to run wifi in openwrt?
