Does mesh work for xr500?

Hello.
My routers are XR500
Mesh does not work on the main router.
Or it doesn't work at all on this device or I can't configure it.
The "dumb AP"(XR500) doesn’t care, it works with the same mesh settings.
Can you give me some advice?

P.S. I tried mediatek (dir882) as main and it works.

Post the config for both.

Also, define mesh.

QCA9984 is 802.11ac/wave2 and should support mesh/ 802.11s with either ath10k-ct or ath10k just fine.

As @frollic said, what do you mean by mesh?
Are you

  1. wanting to create a wireless backhaul for remote access points to connect to so you can increase wifi coverage?

or

  1. wanting your mobile devices to roam seamlessly from access point to access point as you walk round your house?

These are very different. We don't want to be wasting our time "helping" with the wrong thing because you might have been using the wrong terminology.

I need to connect two routers by wireless and setup roaming between APs on them.

How do you know? The only way to reach it would be via the mesh - but that is not working.

I'm not sure that is the case. I think with the ct drivers, mesh encryption does not work.

Yes, but how do you know mesh was working in the other two?
They are XR500 as well, with the same config, so if they work, join the mesh etc then there must be something wrong with the "main" XR500

I changed routers by circle.
First dumb AP has wired connection to main.
Second dumb AP connects via 802.11s.

-First dumb AP and second connected via 802.11s. Dir882 was as main connected via 802.11s to second dumb AP.

So, to be clear, can you confirm the following (we might have a language difficulty):

  1. you have 3 XR500 routers.
  2. Two of them work with 802.11s mesh
  3. One (used as your "main" device, does not work with 802.11s mesh.
  4. For test purposes, you replaced the "main" XR500 with a similarly configured Dir-882 and the two remote XR500 devices joined the mesh.

If this is the case, there is something wrong with the "main" XR500, either configuration or faulty hardware.
