Divested-WRT: No-nonsense hardened builds for Linksys WRT series

Thanks a lot. I'm immediately going to try it out. Hopefully i won't brick lol

And props to you and the divested group, i already know you people from DivestOS. Maybe i should always check the whole website, i could have saved myself from a lot headaches by trying to build my own router.

hi,

do you know why if I use your master build , my guest wifi network does not work, if I upload the 23.05,official build, the guest network works?
thanks

@Peacefuleight
you need to comment the interface line in /etc/dnsmasq.conf

SkewedZeppelin,

Long time lurker, long time openwrt user. I wanted to say thank you very much for support the Linksys WRT series of routers. Ive been using your builds since david stopped supporting his builds. Very stable and always up to date. I have a 1900ac_v1.

Wanted to ask to see if you would be able to add the following packages to your builds:

  • vnstat
  • vnstati
  • luci-app-vnstat

I want to be able to monitor bandwidth usage and many years ago i used vnstat with the luci-app to do so and it worked fairly well. Since this is a community build, I wanted to ask in this open forum if this would be a nice addition for everyone to utilize as well.

Reference: OpenWRT vnstat doc

Hi @moya2162

You should easily be able to add vnstati, and the more recent vnstati2 through the OpenWrt package repo.

Just update the package list and select whatever flavour you want - old or new. TMK, it’s not kernel dependant.

@RuralRoots

I've used custom community builds for so long that i had since stopped attempting to install packages from the repo as I would get build conflicts from kernel version dependence. Thought never crossed my mind to even try. I was able to install it fine no package issues. Thank you.

Anyone else got an issue with dnsmasq and tftp enabled? Seems the latest build does not support tftp anymore?

27days uptime! Fantastic!

upgraded my wrt3200acm to current a few weeks ago, just flashed openwrt 23.05 on it today, is there any specific steps i need to take to get it running optimally? i installed irq balance, i removed the radio2 driver per the wiki,

im mainly after the best config for the wifi networks!

i have mine setup as a vlan bridged ap, all traffic comes in on trunked lan1 and the wifi uses vlan10 and it just works, firewall opphcd and dnsmasq all disabled. no need for them

just need the optimal settings for the wifi and ill be in good shape, currently AC channel 40 with 80mhz WPA2 because wpa2/3 mixed doesnt work for me and i will need wpa2 still for some devices i think

Hi

I have a WRT3200ACM with this divested-wrt firmware for it.
I am unable to see the second 5GHz channel even if I enable it in the settings.

I verified that the channel frequencies are the same as the ones I have on my MR8300. On that router there is no issue using all the 3 bands. However on this one the third 5GHz band does not even show up in the list of advertised SSIDs.

Can you please help to get this working?

I am running the 6.1.75 kernel from the build on 31-01-2024.

Please let me know what information you need to debug this and how to get it, I will attach it here.

Thank you

you should probably ask in Divested-WRT: No-nonsense hardened builds for Linksys WRT series

Hi

Thanks for replying. I did visit that forum and post this topic. But it looks like this has got created in the main openwrt forum.

How do I go about redirecting this to the forum there? If you have any info, please do let me know.

Thanks

I flagged your post, hopefully it'll get moved.

Thank you very much for helping.

MR8300 ne WRT3200ACM.

Please see this item on the Device Page

Hi

Thanks for sending me that link. I did whatever the notes suggested. But there is still no luck in getting the second 5GHz working.

Anything else to try here? Maybe I have missed something?

Thanks

Well, I don’t have this device, but AFAIK third radio is problematic and always has been. The best I can point you to is a forum search. Try WRT3200ACM third radio as search term

I have a WRT3200. There's no 3rd radio that I'm aware of. Best to follow the advice on the device page and remove it.

I ended up shutting the radios down and installing a Wireless AP (WAX620). WRT3200 is still a great router but the WiFi is outdated and was never open sourced. It's had problems since OpenWRT Ver 19.xx.xx (IMO)
