DGS1210-28 version F3 Installation Question

Recently purchased a DGS1210-28 F3 version.
This Git-2020 requires a serial connection.
Is that the only successful method?

Looking at this hoping to use the webui installation. Any success?

It's badly phrased, but there is this sentence: "To install, upload the sysupgrade image to the OEM webpage or sysupgrade from the system running from initramfs image."

This indicates that you should be able to install it from the OEM web page.

I did that on my DGS-1210-28MP. Make sure to install it to the correct slot! Steps by step instructions are in the commit for the -28MP: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commit;h=3e7e4d0b97595fc0c24f1d702de3daac2de3c2e7

If i understand the instructions

  1. Boot from image2

  2. Upload sysupgrade.bin via backup/upgrade > firmware > image1

  3. Change boot startup to image1 and reboot?

Hence I'm never using initramfs-kernel.bin then later using the sysupgrade.bin.

Do I have to rename the downloaded files to just sysupgrade.bin / initramfs-kernel.bin?

Hm, I don't remember if initramfs or sysupgrade needs to be flashed. On the ZyXELs, only initramfs works. I don't remember if the filename matters, this is something you can simply try out.

Tried installing with both the initramfs and sysupgrade = failed
This successful image did work!!
