Device for Gigabit WAN NAT

Hi,

Can you guys recommend a soho router with OpenWRT support for Gigabit WAN (1000/1000) connection through PPPOE?

What I need:

  • Stability for daily use, I don't have other device, I live in a small apartment
  • Support to flow offload and ability to NAT gigabit over pppoe (1000/1000)
  • Stable WLAN, preferably 802.11ac or ax (but that would be expensive), don't care much about the speed
  • I want to use VPN with softether, I will use L2TP/IPSec with PSK, speed is not so important, 40-50mbit would be fine
  • I don't use QoS or SQM

Currently the huawei ont given by the ISP do the NAT and I'm using a tp-link wdr4300 as a switch and vpn server with ddns and wol. I want to replace this with a router to do the nat too.

I saw that maybe the following devices can do what I want:

  • Linksys WRT3200ACM
  • Netgear R7800
  • Zyxel NBG6817

But I've read around here that the Linksys wifi is unstable and the other two has random reboots or speed issues in the current builds.

Which device would be the best for what I want in that price range, are there any other alternatives?

Thanks.

for gigabit nat in that price range you need to use oem firmware on those devices, or purchase an SBC. the edgerouter X running 19 also comes close...
