Dawn low level docs?

I got a 4th Netgear WAC104 off eBay, brand new and unboxed for €45 and loaded the same OpenWrt firmware as the other 3, gave it the same config in all regards. It worked, but refused to communicate with the rest. Dawn only reported itself. Lots of power cycles and reboots made no difference. I changed config in numerous ways to no avail. I put the same config back and did more reboots of it and the other AP. Still no joy.

I got a spare switch out and configured port 8 to be a span port to my laptop for tcpdump, ports 1 & 2 connecting the AP to the rest of the network. To my surprise, AP 4 started talking to the other 3 and Dawn on all of them now reports the lot.

I’d love to know more about the Dawn startup, how they discover each other. All I can find in my searches is high level how-to.

Anyone got a link?

Could all the problems really be this simple? Processes not starting up in the ideal order?

No? AI says /etc/init.d/ when it’s likely /etc/rc.d/

Just look in the init.d scripts and everything will become clear :slightly_smiling_face:

So it’s not init scripts. Everything was working fine with the device on the bench. I took it to it’s installation location and I’m back to square one. It’s working, but Dawn isn’t communicating with the other 3.
