I had a minor fault in my config.

I double checked this build and its almost perfect, except of some xhr faults in the luci ssl 443 https://
I use a different port and now the errors are gone

v47 openwrt openssl build, special request packages in packages folder

Are there any site pages with this info.? I learned how to build a stable, and snapshot release so all I need to know is if there is something else required beside the config.seed.

Thanks

Why are you dumping a manifest for your build in this thread. At least do people a favour and learn to use the widgets on the toolbar and hide this crap, links seem to work well for throw away stuff (i.e. nc termbin.com 9999), better yet open a thread if you want to push a community build. But inquiring minds want to know, DSA and swconfig bits seem somewhat incongruous.

Edit: Thanks for stating the obvious. Maybe just learn to use the toolbar widgets first, and EDIT that post. At a minimum it is way OT.

Edit2. Please stop explaining the well known. My question was rhetorical and meant to draw your attention to the fact that you have overrode the default setting to NOT include swconfig, as things are now DSA; and .... And if you want LuCI setup see PR4307.

I'm a bit short on time this week.

There's is a special openssl.conf and the vm has gcc 9 installed and the hostvm 20.04 server has a compiled openssl1.1.1i liberary

And the .config is modified to take out the mbedtls, gnutls manually.
Including replacing the px5g-mbedtls with px5g standalone.

That's about it

No pages yet! :hushed:

It's only when you use vlans and/or tagged traffic or splitting of networks

I also had to learn...learned it here from this forum

And in this build you can setup wan vlan settings from Luci or cmd line.... simple just put in wan.vlannr

But for complete separate lan networks on different ports or adding tagged traffic you have to use dsa ip commands.

I have a more complex setup with multi wan, separate IPv4 and IPv6 connections. With separate lan networks and multi SSID wifi.
And all work with dnscrypt-proxy2 and adblock and multiwan and combined dual stack setup!

So that's why.... it's impossible to get this setup in Luci.

Edit-2 swconfig, is not the problem in every switch firmware, so have you tried it in this 5.4 kernel and with this firmware or image? And why could I setup my switch with swconfig and my bridge with brctl....as well as with ip commands. And finally it does not work with the Luci swconfig...but it does in command line

And otherwise don't use or download it. I'm just trying and sharing...and learning everyday...

@anomeome sorry if if not the right thread
I tried your patches for 5.10 on 3200acm but I have failures with backports-5.8.18 like

/nl80211.c:658:11: error: 'NLA_EXACT_LEN' undeclared here (not in a function); did you mean 'NLA_HDRLEN'?
   .type = NLA_EXACT_LEN,
           ^~~~~~~~~~~~~
           NLA_HDRLEN
cc1: some warnings being treated as errors

/key.c:720:2: error: implicit declaration of function 'kzfree'; did you mean 'kfree'? [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
  kzfree(key);
  ^~~~~~
  kfree
cc1: some warnings being treated as errors

any hint on this ?

The way I am currently building for a 5.10.x image is:

  • just to take a clone of the nbd staging tree
  • applying patch of the mvebu target patch
  • add in the above two patches, also change the architecture
  • use the KanjiMonster upgrade_kernel script to get to latest 5.10.x

have not looked that closely at ndb staging, but maybe there are other changes lurking than just the 5.10.x generic that I am actually after.

thanks for the ideea, the mac80211 folder from his tree solved the compile issue

Hello, I also use the wrt32x model, can you share your new version of the kernel img for me to use! 5.10.x, thanks

RE: 5.10.x build, noted in hardening image that

CONFIG_STRIP_KERNEL_EXPORTS=y

breaks things. Appears compile time file generation is a wee bit borked.

Davidc502 builds were great for the wrt series of routers. Can we ask David to upload to git so we can continue on as a community? I fully understand he has moved on to other endeavors but I am new to building openwrt from source and my builds do not perform at the level of his.

Hello,

I noticed last night that my phone wouldn't resolve out of nowhere. I have stubby configured, so I figured that the ca-budle/ca-certificates had expired since the package list hasn't been updated in a while. So I uninstalled the two, and manually installed the latest versions from the official openwrt target repo (https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/packages/arm_cortex-a9_vfpv3-d16/), which fixed the issue.

Question is, could there be any harm in changing the repo to the official one so that I can update all packages, or could that bring on some unforseen issues? Are the packages signed differently and would opkg see the new list as updates to David's existing repo packages?

Thanks

In the general idea of questions above - I'm curious what are differences for users between latest DavidC502 builds and latest official openwrt release for 1200AC. I have recently visited this thread many times looking for answers, so I'm aware of stability(which can be proven from my experience), DSA migration issues and all preloaded packages… But maybe there's something I'm missing?

And another question: mwlwifi-based driver really a game changer that makes using one with the latest official releases worthwhile installing?

Hi again, I'm running
Firmware Version: OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r13342-e35e40ad82 / LuCI Master git-20.144.63033-62ed4e6
Kernel Version: 5.4.42

and it's super stable. I like. Are there any reasons to move away from this build?
Security concerns or something?

Not really, I'm still running that too and it's basically been perfect. I figure if OpenWrt ever does a 21.x build (19.x is still their stable) I'll finally upgrade.

Would seem so, and there are certainly others to be found by checking the git logs.

Im using this build: "OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r13342-e35e40ad82 / LuCI Master git-20.144.63033-62ed4e6"
Does anyone know how I can update the wireguard plugin? it seems that because of it being a snapshot build, i cannot update anything. :frowning:

I'm using the r13342 May 2020 Davidc502 wrt3200acm build.

My concern is the dnsmasq vulnerability. If I do
opkg update; opkg upgrade $(opkg list-installed dnsmasq* | cut -d' ' -f1)
I am left with the same dnsmasq 2.81-2 as in the manifest

How would I upgrade it, or am I out of luck and have to move away from Davidc502's great packaged systems?

You will need to edit your /etc/opkg/distfeeds.conf file to point your package repository back to OpenWrt then run opkg update to get dnsmasq 2.81-2

Thanks! That was enough of a hint for me to figure out where to look.
Just to note what I chose to do as a temporary measure (until next reboot) was to install one of the known patched versions of this package only.

opkg remove dnsmasq
opkg install https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/19.07.6/packages/arm_cortex-a9_vfpv3-d16/base/dnsmasq_2.80-16.2_arm_cortex-a9_vfpv3-d16.ipk

I had to either go forward to 2.83 or backward to 2.80. I chose backward but I'm not sure that was the wisest. Install wouldn't let me downgrade the package, so I removed it. The configuration file was different but not much (other than info I added).

In 12 hours, I've seen no problems. This gives me time to come up with a more permanent solution.
