Big thanks
@davidc502 I'm mostly only lurking here but I've been using your builds almost from the first one and I'm very grateful for all the things you've done to the community. I hope to see new builds from you from time to time in the future but, in case you decide otherwise, huge thanks anyway.
Thanks for the heads up, with DSA your reasoning makes total sense. Fwiw I have 60 day uptime on your last build with kernel 5.4.42 and it's been flawless. Looks like we'll have to wait for an official OpenWrt 20.x build whenever that should come, they seem to do major updates less frequently ever since LEDE.
@davidc502 looks like some progress towards avoiding DSA soft-locks is going in at least: https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/commit/494f12c52df6767ec0fabf2b2fac8f453323a4c5
Pretty difficult for someone / anyone to solve PEBKAC at someone else's desktop.
Yes, i restarted those services and later the whole router with no luck
Sorry for the delay - duty calls at times.
If your game, I am going to suggest we take dnscrypt-proxy out of the equation for the time being and make sure basic resolution with dnsmasq and your ISP name servers is working properly, and then bring dnscrypt back.
There is still contention somewhere and dnsmasq isnβt happy atm.
Next steps to follow.
I recently discover serious issue (it's not a bug in David's firmware, but it's affected as well).
How to get out of space at /overlay in one command? (DON'T DO IT ON REAL DEVICE!)
Issue chown -R root:root /usr
- and you have very small free space now.
Seem like changing owner to any file from ROM (even to the same owner!) creates it's copy in /overlay.
Solution: backup config, reset, restore config.
The updated development/snapshot luci-compat package from (https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/packages/arm_cortex-a9_vfpv3-d16/luci/) might fix the button display issues that were reported earlier regarding that new luci-theme-openwrt-2020 thanks to this PR (https://github.com/openwrt/luci/pull/4275).
This package would have to be installed manually. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to test this right now as I have reverted from Davidc502 builds back to stable branch for the time being.
If anyone tests this, please let me know if updating that one package is successful in fixing this theme related issue.
OK, Now i'm not close to the router, but later we can try. Them as you suggest, disable dnscrypt and browse only with dnsmasq right?
Hi.
No problem about "DSA"?
Hi!
I just leave IPv4 part:
listen_addresses = ['127.0.0.53:53']
And that message is gone and IPv6 resolution still working. What is happening?
Thank you!
Dear oli,
Hello and I hope that you are both safe and well during these times we are in. I went and tried Daniel's version ( SuperWRT ) as per your testimony about its stability and so on. I have an issue where I am unable ( read stuck ) as to howto set up OpenVPN on this firmware. I am running his build ( 27-Jul-2020 ) - and this has the DSA layout for Lan Interfaces. I keep getting the error that " the tun0 interface is " not present ". So, I am asking - can you point me to a working solution / configuration to set up OpenVPN on SuperWRT ? Thanks in advance to any and all who may help me with this issue.
Peace and God Bless - Stay Safe
Dear Dave,
Hello and I hope that you and yours are safe and well. I have been with you for at least three or four years - and I just want to thank you for all that you have done for all of us here - not only with your excellent builds - but your always generous, civil, kind and giving spirit. This has truly been a " community " where there has always been free open give and take. No judgement or flaming. It all starts from the top and I know that your example made all the aforementioned harmony possible. I am going to miss you-and I wish you all the peace, happiness, and satisfaction you deserve as you go forward on your journey.
Stay Safe My Brother - and Peace and Grace Upon You and Yours Always
Hi,
I use a PPPOE dual stack ipv4/ipv6 configuration without VPN, try to chat with Daniel on discord, maybe he can help you, unfortunately I can't help you with your problem...
From what I understand, he is going to publish updates these days...
Thanks for the swift reply. I appreciate that. Peace
if you don't mind, which router you use?
I have wrt32x - but I am using wrt3200acm for SuperWRT - do you have most direct method to contact Daniel - as there are several somewhat confusing methods possible - you know like e-mail or some such mannner - I also have wrt1900acs v2 - but I did not see his firmware for this router
Thanks again oli
if you look better you can also find the version for ACS V2..... https://superwrt.download/
If you want to talk to him, you can find him on the https://discord.gg/XcC2X2
I use an wrt1900acs v2 and I had no problem..
Pay close attention to this information.
The information is from July 27, I don't know at present what they solved...
