Thank you for the suggestion. There was a time when I switched to full, and it caused issues, so I went back.

Thanks,

David

@davidc502

Hi David,

I just flashed the latest firmware (r11583) hoping that it would resolve the issue that I explained earlier but unfortunately it did not resolve it. I am still having the same issues i described before.

Can you please tell me what could possibly be wrong if I am flashing a fresh firmware.

I tried to flash the regular opwewrt firmware and everything works fine it is just whenever I flash any firmware newer than r10726 I do not get internet at all and non of the network interfaces have a functional "stop/start" buttons. The button is disabled.

I would appreciate it if you could help me with this

Thanks

+1 for dnsmasq full. Never had any issues with it...

Just flashed your firmware, but noticed your domain has gone down, so i hope everything is ok your bud. Will wait for the serverto come back online so i can opkg update.

Yet i can see your website strange.

@davidc502

Are we safe to keep our existing config files when flashing to the latest build if we are coming from 11398?

hello, last build are broken for me, my devices in my network loose connection to local network and no internet, computers and mobiles WiFi or by Ethernet.

i loose connection to Luci too and have time out , the only way it shut down by removing power cable.

any idea?

Dear Dave,
Hello and I hope that you are well. I have a few questions regarding how you
deploy and activate the devcrypto engine on your builds. I was testing OpenWRT insomnia
by Patrik - his website is here : https://pages.corifeus.com/github/openwrt-insomnia
He did not have devcrypto engine enabled on his builds originally, so I contacted him about the
matter. The main difference between your builds and his is that he uses " libopenssl-devcrypto "
and I can verify this by running this command : opkg list-installed | grep libopenssl-devcrypto
and the output is # libopenssl-devcrypto - 1.1.1d-2 When I run opkg list-installed | grep libopenssl-devcrypto on your builds there is no output at all. Moreover, libopenssl-devcrypto is not available in your package repositories. So can you explain the reason for the differences ? If you view the front page of Patrik's website, you will see that the user needs to modify the " /etc/ssl/openssl.cnf " on his builds in order to activate the devcrypto engine. So, I guess I am asking for your feedback - and if necessary or possible would you make libopenssl-devcrypto package available in the future - if there are any advantages to using libopenssl-devcrypto.
By the way both builds when command # openssl engine -t -c is run render the output below :

dynamic) Dynamic engine loading support
[ unavailable ]
(devcrypto) /dev/crypto engine
[DES-CBC, DES-EDE3-CBC, AES-128-CBC, AES-192-CBC, AES-256-CBC, AES-128-ECB, AES-192-ECB, AES-256-ECB]
[ available ]

Thanks and I am just trying to learn is all. Peace and Happy Thanksgiving

hello

has anyone had any issues with Stubby recently? I have followed this guide for a little while which has worked well:

but it isnt working with TLS now for some reason.. I'm connected to 1.1.1.1 but without a secure connection. Also I am unable to update packages with the settings configured.. any idea what could be going wrong?

Dear digital_mystik,
Hello and I hope that you are well. I have written quite a few guides for DNS OVER TLS. No, I am not having any problems with Stubby which I run with Unbound. Here is a pretty easy to follow guide / tutorial : https://forums.torguard.net/index.php?/topic/1455-openwrt-stubby-dns-over-tls-using-dnsmasq-full-for-dnssec-caching/ Now this guide is pretty straightforward and easy to read. The main thing to do is enter and edit the default Stubby Config file - which is /etc/config/stubby file
You know nano /etc/config/stubby and change the following :

    option manual '0'  to
    option manual '1'

Then just follow the rest of the tutorial. This uses Stubby with DNSMASQ-FULL for caching. Good Luck and Happy Hunting

I am brand new to the openwrt community, and just stumbled upon this thread:

What is the main difference between using davidc502's builds vs the master openwrt release? How should I be evaluating the two?

Please be nice :slight_smile:

As for libopenssl-devcrypto , I don't see that as an available package to compile (It may be old and unavailable). For devcrypto.. the long story short is it doesn't work as expected. Meaning you can use dynamic and get the same performance. If you found out a secret formula to devcrypto that makes it perform better than dynamic please let me know.

@Traveler

I'm guessing you already made it back to the other partition. Try it again, but don't save any setting, and see if you at least have network connectivity. If you do, then it looks like there is a configuration that may be causing this issue.

This is a FAQ that needs to be added to the webpage where I can point to it and tell people to read it! :slight_smile:

This is bleeding edge, and includes some of the more popular packages as well as a few tweaks. Also, you can flash to a build, and stay on that build for up to a year, and packages for that specific build will still be available. Still, both are built on the same package sources... for example Wifi is identical except for a tweak. Also I add @solidus1983 luci-theme-atmaterial.

So, an evaluation between the two might be your personal preference for example.

Best Regards,

David

Awesome, thank you! What is the tweak to Wifi? And what are the popular packages you've included?

Cool, I think it'll be great to have this in the FAQ. I'm sure you'll get a lot more downloads if that info there. :slight_smile:

A lot of what's include is here -> https://dc502wrt.org/snapshots/r11583/targets/mvebu/cortexa9/config.buildinfo

Just some of the packages you can see in LuCi are Samba(Network Shares), VPN, AdBlock, DynamicDNS, UTTPd, Watchcat, Wake on LAN, and collectd Statisitcs. One package not found in LuCi is going to be dnscrypt-proxy.

The wifi tweak disables amsdu. sta_info->is_amsdu_allowed = false

I've also recently begun using dnsmasq-full. If I flash the latest release, will I simply need to re-install it, and operation will remain as before, or is there more to it?

Correct, just install full, and you're good to go.

New builds as of yesterday! =D

is there something wrong with /mnt on this build?
it was working after I upgraded then it stopped working after a while. I am unable to mount to /mnt and the folder doesnt exist in the root directory.
When I try to mount to /mnt it just says I/O error

Recreate the folder under the /mnt directory first, and then mount the folder.

Just to make sure I went ahead and mounted a USB drive under /mnt/usb, and it is working.
