D-Link M30 (Aquila Pro AI) - 24.10.5 Still Has Partition Issues - Red Light, No Boot
Device: D-Link Aquila Pro AI M30 (A1)
OpenWrt Version: 24.10.5
Problem: Router bricks (red LED, no boot) after installing official recovery + sysupgrade images
Issue Description
I attempted to install OpenWrt 24.10.5 on my D-Link M30 router using the official images:
openwrt-24.10.5-mediatek-filogic-dlink_aquila-pro-ai-m30-a1-squashfs-recovery.binopenwrt-24.10.5-mediatek-filogic-dlink_aquila-pro-ai-m30-a1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
After flashing the recovery image and then the sysupgrade, the router's LED turns solid red and it never boots up. No web interface, no SSH access, completely unresponsive.
Expected Behavior
I was under the impression that the partition/UBI layout issues affecting the M30 were fixed after 24.10.3. However, it appears the problem persists in 24.10.5.
What Worked
The only image that successfully installed and booted on my M30 was the custom recovery image from @RolandoMagico's repository:
Working Recovery Image:
This image includes a fix for the partition/UBI switch issue. The relevant build configuration and patches can be found here:
Questions
- Was the partition fix actually merged into the official 24.10.x branch, or is it still pending?
- Are others experiencing the same issue with 24.10.5 on the M30?
- Is there a timeline for when the official images will include the correct partition layout fix?
Any insights from the maintainers or others who have successfully installed 24.10.5 on the M30 would be greatly appreciated.
