Hi!
I am thinking of buying a Cudy WR3000 or WR3000S. However, I am somewhat skeptical as to whether these are secure and whether I will have a clean OpenWRT installed later. After all, the installation instructions contain the following note, which is not found on other devices.
Blockquote Need a signed OpenWrt intermediary image from Cudy before installing official
OpenWrt image.
Is a backdoor being installed here?
Thx
Does is matter ? you're flashing it again 30 secs later.
The note applies to all Cudy devices, when flashed using their Openwrt image.

How do I know that this intermediate step is not used to install a backdoor? This type of installation seems to be exclusive to Cudy.
The firmware could also only pretend that something is being flashed and in reality the corrupt firmware remains installed.
How do you know there isn't one installed already ?
Correct.
Serial flashing it is then, have fun!
(No idea how it would change anything, but if it makes you happy....)

Perhaps that was misunderstood. It wasn't meant as an accusation, but rather as a question.
The queation is wheter Cudy is safe to use with openwrt or not. (I am to stupid for serial flashing)
So was my counter question.
It's just as safe (or unsafe) as any other router running Openwrt.
You were perfectly understood.
If you dont like cudy router, buy a windows PC and share internet to wifi.
