This device is not currently supported, I’m pasting info on it to hopefully get it to be supported one day. Seems many devices start out as a forum post of info until they one day get support builds going. I looked but could not find any post for v4 of this hardware.

Get serial, try booting the v3, v2 and v1 initramfs:es, check what works and what's not.

busy building v3 initramfs. Cannot seem to get a u-boot prompt, tried using esc key and space key to interrupt uboot, none worked. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is there a universal way to get a uboot shell on routers? Or does it depend per vendor? I’m trying esc key on serial as I boot the device, but seems uboot ignores it and boots from flash.
Just a FYI. After asking Cudy support about how I could get a uboot shell, the response is:
I just checked, there is no way to go the shell like this. We will offer you an intermediate firmware which remove the signature of the firmware. Then you can update the OpenWrt firmware.
I will wait to see what is sent and then go from there.
In newer Cudy u-boot they introduced recovery mode that is triggered by holding reset when power on. Then will try tftp boot and after time out It will drop you to u-boot shell. Can You check that ?
Would I need to update firmware to latest cudy provided firmware?
I may be on old official firmware, but I did try reset + boot, and waited a few minutes. It seems to just retry tftp on loop. I will try install latest official firmware and see if there’s a timeout, but cudy support replied to my email to say there is no way to get a uboot shell, and that they would provide me with a image soon.
That's too bad but there's no other option. Let's wait for this image file so it can be compared with currently supported v2 v3.
I installed the latest official firmware from https://www.cudy.com/en-za/pages/download-center/wr1300-4-0 (2.4.22). I previously had 2.4.8.
Then did reset + boot into tftp. The tftp boot does timeout but then shows a message:
Retry count exceeded; starting again
I waited 5 minutes while it kept doing that, but it never dropped to a uboot shell sadly.
Cudy support initially ask me to try interrupt uboot with ctrl-c, but that didn’t work from tftp nor normal boot up. Seems they locked it down to prevent uboot shell. We will have to wait for them to provide an image, I will email them to remind them again. Given the new year, may take a bit to get a reply I suspect.
This is often related to firewall being up in TFTP host.
They don't really celebrate it on Dec 31st in CN, do they ?
So I did not have a tftp running, I was only trying to get it to timeout and drop to a uboot shell. I had previously tried loading openwrt v2 and v3 via recovery but those both failed. I think it checks if recovery is signed and if not, won’t boot it. So I could not get it to boot openwrt v2 v3 via recovery.
Perhaps you’re right they don’t celebrate 31 Dec, I have sent them a reminder email yesterday to give me a unlocked firmware, have not gotten a reply yet.
Cudy support replied to me with a system image. Pasting here for reference. I will flash it on and then try take it further tomorrow.
