Cpu for openwrt

Hi. does it need good cpu when OpenWRT want to use more than 14% for few minutes ??

Your question is like asking "how long is a piece of string."

In any properly designed system with appropriate thermal management, the processor can be utilized at 100% continuously. The amount of practical performance, of course, depends on what you are doing with that processor load and the processor itself.

What is it that you're trying to achieve? what hardware are you using?

if you want it to use more than 14%, get a weak CPU, it'll use > 14% more often.

Heavily depends on what you are trying to do, most network or storage drivers are very efficient and only signal when data from memory hit the wire not using any CPU cycles in between.

I haven't bought any hardware yet, for now I want to know what percentage of the CPU is working.

Again, it will depend on what you are trying to achieve.... standard routing vs traffic shaping vs VPN, etc... and it depends on your internet connection speed and your expecatations.

And as stated earlier, your CPU load will depend on all those factors as well as the hardware you choose. An x86 system will usually have way more performance (and thus headroom) than a typical all-in-one home router... but there are many really great routers out there.... so without specifics, there is no way to advise you of what you might want to consider.

I will combine the internet of two modems and use VPN, that's all.

That's still not much info... internet speeds??? VPN protocol?? Inbound or outbound VPN usage??

VPN eats CPU, what kind of speed do you expect from the VPN tunnel ?

my internet speed is 30 or 45 mb and i install passwall for use vpn in the openwrt

What VPN?

You can use any device made in the last ~10 years. But of course, use one supported by OpenWrt, and is capable of modern versions and upgrades. If you run more stuff, your percentages will vary (from the already unknown value of the nonexistent hypothetical device running at 14%).

is that enough for aggregate two internet modems and using passwall for connect to the vpn. (v2ray config)

What exactly is your question?
is it about asking if a decade old Intel cpu is still sufficient to handle the load?
If so (with ISP up to 50Mb and 14% cpu usage) I would say yes

i dont have big plans. i just want to: aggregate two internet modems and using passwall for connect to the vpn. (v2ray config) and ....
share the internet by wireless using dongle.
with this hardware: intel Pentium g2020, 4 gigabyte ram and 160 hdd

If you have it it is valid option, but probably find SSD that fits, hdd-s of such age tend to die suddenly.

In case you are not aware of it, some usb wifi dongles do not work in access point mode so make sure that your chosen wifi dongle is supported for access point mode in OpenWrt and known for reliable use in that mode.
