I have this mesh system and was wondering if it is supported with openWrt.
No, that device is not supported. You can check in two places:

https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org/
If it doesn't show up in either location, it is not supported. But you can help determine if it is possible to support and do some of the development work:

Judging from the FCC images, this is going to be a firm 'no, never' for that device (Broadcom).

I just signed up in the community to ask for this specific device as well. I did find the OpenWRT supports COVR X1860, supposedly from the same family of X1800 mesh devices that use the same firmware. However, it might be a risk to install OpenWRT since as the other users mentioned, there's no indication that this device has been tested with OpenWRT.
