Couldn't open nvram in Archer C7 v5

This device has low flash. 16 MB in total, and 8 MB shown in luci. Is that why? How can I somehow bypass this? I want to overclock this device, it's really really slow CPU. In wiki it says 750Mhz, but on the device /proc/cpuinfo, bogomips say 385Mhz.

is that why what ?

Okay I did this. But, what if that HDD suddenly died somehow? Will that brick my router, or it will the use the built in flash back?

You're only extending the space for installable packages.

Hmm ok, still couldn't open nvram though. I googled some, I think this router can't be overclocked via nvram like the Asus. It's much much complicated procedure. I am too lazy for this. Thanks a lot anyway, this is really useful data.

There is no nvram (there is no CFE on ath79 based router, only u-boot and its u-boot enviroment, but it doesn't take or evaluate overclocking parameters).

The device has 16 MB flash, just shy of 8 MB are used by OpenWrt's default image, which leaves you with slightly under 8 MB on the overlay, at your disposal.
