Connection Issue

Hello.

Recently my Linksys 1900 ACS V2
"Powered by LuCI lede-17.01 branch (git-17.290.79498-d3f0685)](https://github.com/openwrt/luci) / LEDE Reboot 17.01.4 r3560-79f57e422d"

shows error code: "daemon.notice hostapd: nl80211: wpa_driver_n180211_event_receive-->nl_recsmsgs_failed: -5"

when trying to connect to the access point followed by "3=deauth_leaving".

What could be the cause of this issue?
I run the same exact setup with three other routers (same model) which work without any problem.

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes time out of their day to help!

start by upgrading, this release is ancient ...

Thanks for the answer.

Would you mind providing me a link to the most recent version that works with my router? As to not use a wrong one and create more headache.

Also, can this upgrade be performed via LEDE or do I need to flash the firmware?

latest one is here.

but you probably want to upgrade in steps,
use the sysupgrade images for your device from

https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/18.06.9/targets/mvebu/cortexa9/
https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/19.07.10/targets/mvebu/cortexa9/
https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.5/targets/mvebu/cortexa9/

then the sysupgrade image from the 1st link.

make sure you reset the settings during every upgrade.

Version 18 produces the same result
Version 19 removed some interfaces like UMTS and VPN and gives the same result
Version 21 completely bricked the router right now

Hello!

thanks for your help so far.

However, I had to hard-reflash the router back to LEDE Reboot 17.01.4 r3560-79f57e422d over USB/UART update_both_images.

worked, as usual.

router works fine now
the
nl_recsmsgs_failed: -5

error is gone: was supposedly an config error, I accidentally made by fideling around to much.

BUT: the initail error is still there - for me completely unexplainable!

Due to really specialized settings (tar.gz) an sys-upgrade (thx @frollic) , like we tried, is not an option beause then we cannot reimport the settings savely anymore, unfortunately.
However, we really need to fix this error on this firmware:

Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING everytime 5 sec after the authentication.

It only happens on this device.
Help needed debugging this..

You can't expect settings to work cross version, if you're not prepared to redo the config, don't upgrade further than the most current stable release of 17.01.

Hello!

never mind!
fixed it - was worth a try.

however, as we are trying to connect ot another router's AP I thought you might need its wifi-config as well:

etc/config/wireless_AP

config wifi-device 'radio0'
        option type 'mac80211'
        option hwmode '11a'
        option path 'soc/soc:pcie-controller/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00$
        option country 'DE'
        option htmode 'HT20'
        option channel 'auto'

config wifi-device 'radio1'
