Comtrend WAP-5813n(4MB) tcpdump -i eth0 shows no LAN/WAN

Hello,

My Comtrend WAP-5813n version a bit differs from oficially supported and so problem arised:
32MB RAM vs 64MB RAM
4MB flash vs 8MB flash

What I have done.
I created firmware without using lede-imagebuilder-17.01.2-brcm63xx-smp.Linux-x86_64.tar.xz (got 3.25MB size firmware). I changed offsets in wap-5813n.dts according to other 4MB flash BCM63xx routers before compiling:

cfe@0 {
        label = "CFE";
        reg = <0x000000 0x010000>;
        read-only;
    };

    linux@10000 {
        label = "linux";
        reg = <0x010000 0x3e0000>;
    };

    nvram@3f0000 {
        label = "nvram";
        reg = <0x3f0000 0x010000>;

And changed profile to 4MB in bcm63xx.mk:

define Device/WAP-5813n
  $(Device/bcm63xx)
  DEVICE_TITLE := Comtrend WAP-5813n
  DEVICE_DTS := wap-5813n
  CFE_BOARD_ID := 96369R-1231N
  CFE_CHIP_ID := 6368
  FLASH_MB := 4
  DEVICE_PACKAGES := \
    $(B43_PACKAGES) $(USB2_PACKAGES)
endef

Here is LEDE 17.01.2 full bootlog via serial connection:

Hi romandas. For testing purposes you should better build a LEDE RAM image (with XZ compression)

 -> Target Images
      -> ramdisk
         -> Compression  XZ

Put the compiled RAM image (elf extension) in a tftp server (192.168.1.7 or other IP in this network) and load it from CFE command line:

r 192.168.1.7:lede-ram-image.elf

BTW the partitions you're defining at the dts file aren't being used by your custom firmware.

You could also let the firmware autodetect partitions, just don't define any partition at the dts file

&pflash {
	status = "ok";

	linux,part-probe = "bcm63xxpart";
};

Hi,

So "lede-ram-image.elf" can be larger than my routers flash size, because it boots directly from PC bypassing flash chip or it has to be less than flash size? I ask, because getting error uploading. Bootloader freezes and I get ERR in the TFTP upload status.

In theory it can be larger than the flash chip size. But some CFEs may have troubles running RAM firmwares larger than 4 MB size. AFAIK this limit on the RAM firmware was overcomed by introducing a loader some time ago since Chaos Calmer or newer versions.

I have booted LEDE 17.01.2 succesfuly, but no working wired LAN and WAN as in OpenWrt...

Labas Romandas

Ar pavyko issiaiskinti su situo Teo kastruotu routeriu. As pastrigau su LEDE ant pirmo Jusu posto

Sveikas, grazva

Neskyriau daugiau laiko jam. Turbūt matei, kad LEDE veikia, bet kažkas blogai su switch nustatymais, tai taip ir liko.

Didn't spend more time for this router, so it's stucked at this point
