Community question: What do you want to see in OpenWrt?

How about a toggle in Luci to switch between Basic and Expert, with Basic being a stripped down version of Luci that is only concerned with common home network configurations and Expert revealing a larger set of configuration options?
Basic mode could also have some scenario driven wizards for common uses of OpenWrt in a home environment.

I could also see two different builds for OpenWrt, Compact for limited resource devices and Expanded for devices that have more disk/RAM. It is a core goal of OpenWrt to support devices that have limited resources, however, there appear to be many users who are happy to spend extra on their device and thus have more resources to take advantage of. It would be nice to see a build reflect that.

I personally think your idea is good but the problem is that in practice this just makes for a poor user experience. At the end of the day the standard doesn't have enough options and the advanced has way to many options.

What would be better is if the UI colors and styling highlighted the important options. It would good to have the critical settings stand out from everything else so that a person can easily find the most basic options. The UI also should have popups warning of potential misconfigurations with links to how to fix. This could then be combined with information dialog boxes that show an explanation of a setting when you hover over the Question mark.
